Knowledge, Passion and Mustard Seed Faith
Rev. Richard Holland is the organizing Pastor of the Redemption Church of Baltimore City, MD. He was born in Jamaica, NY. At an early age, his family relocated to Baltimore, Maryland where he was raised and educated in the public school system. Upon graduating from high school, Reverend Holland entered Cheney State University of Pennsylvania. The call to the Gospel Ministry came in 1989 at the Good Shepherd Baptist church under the leadership/tutelage of the late Rev. Dr. Robert C. Hunt.
On November 30, 1990, he preached his initial sermon and licensed to preach the gospel. Over time, God stirred the gift and Rev. Holland began taking classes at Saint Mary’s Seminary. Unforeseen trials interrupted his studies at Saint Mary’s and put him on a different path. This interruption proved to be a blessing in disguise. The burning desire for knowledge developed an insatiable passion for reading that fostered and nurtured unbelievable spiritual growth.
God then repositioned and promoted Reverend Holland to the position of Assistant Pastor of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Baltimore City under the leadership of Reverend M. Cooley. While at Jerusalem, Reverend Holland became fully acclimated to every aspect of pastoral duties. The Young Adult Ministry, the TNT (Thursday Night Throw Down), the Tuesday Night Prayer group as well as Bible Study grew in participation and power. Jerusalem was the mountain that God used to show Reverend Holland his path in ministry.
On June 6, 2006, with a Word from God and “mustard seed faith”, Rev. Holland and five others organized the Redemption Church of Baltimore City.
The passion for knowledge was not a forgotten dream, for in January 2016, Reverend Holland became a participant in the CTM program at Princeton University and received certification. His goal is to acquire all the knowledge he can, that he may serve God to the best of his abilities!
Reverend Holland accepted the call on February 10, 2018 as Pastor-Elect of the Jerusalem Baptist Church in Temperanceville, Virginia and mounted the pulpit on March 4, 2018. He was installed on September 30, 2018.
Pastor Holland is available to be a guest Preacher or Facilitator for your in-person or virtual event.
